The Chaidemenos’ whitewashed suites with dramatic views of the caldera quickly became iconic and helped to shape the romantic image of the island and its luxury aesthetic. In 1983, they became one of the first families to introduce tourism to the fishing village of Oia when Canaves Oia Boutique Hotel was born. Their parents, Yiannis and Anna, had inherited two 17th-century caves and had the early vision to transform those caves, originally used to store wine, into a luxury boutique hotel. A car is essential, and there is free parking at the villa.Born in Athens, Markos and Alexandros Chaidemenos spent childhood summers and holidays in Santorini’s idyllic Oia Village getting lost among the caves and nooks and in search of hidden swimming spots. Also the famous monastery of Arkadi (8 km) with it's renovated buildings and museum is a recommended visit. The archaeological site of the ancient village of Eleftherna (4 km) where one of the most internationally important excavations and archaeological museum is a must visit. The nearest supermarket, as well as the sandy beach of Stavromenos, is about 8 km away. Skouloufia village has 2 traditional tavernas, a traditional kafenion and a mini market. All areas of the villa are covered with Wifi fast internet access. All bedrooms are individually air-conditioned. Both family rooms and the en suite bedroom lead onto a spacious 35sqm patio. From the sitting area on the ground floor, a wooden staircase leads to the first floor, where there is one bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower/WC. There are also two split-level family bedrooms, one with a double bed and en-suite shower/WC on the lower level, and the other with twin beds on the upper level that is accessed through a wooden staircase. The kitchen and the bedroom have access to the veranda, equipped with patio furniture, a stone built BBQ and a traditional oven. On the same floor there is the master bedroom with a double bed and en-suite fully equipped bathroom with a sauna. Next to the kitchen, there is a WC and a utility room with the washing machine. There is a large refectory style dining table, a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a microwave oven. Three steps lead, through a stone beautiful arch, to a fully equipped open-plan kitchen area. On the ground floor there is a traditionally furnished living area with a fireplace and a TV set. There are 6 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms and a simple wc. In front of the villa there is a paved patio area with a private 30sqm swimming pool and it also includes a children's' pool. The whole villa is 220sqm and can host up to 12 persons. It is located in the picturesque village of Skouloufia, just 18km from Rethymno town. Villa Alexandros is a fully restored beautiful stone build construction, that is dated back to 1885.
